Berklee Online course author Bleu McAuley guides you through one of the key aspects of production: compression. You’ll need to use a compressor whenever you’d like to reduce (or compress) the dynamic range of an audio. Therefore you’d be reducing the volume of the loud sounds and amplifying the low sounds. Multi-band compression does the same thing but with extra steps. Instead of using just one compressor to manipulate your audio, you use an array of compressors affecting each other. In this video you’ll see how the different stages of compression affect each other and the audio in general.
